At the Reception Home in Dar es Salaam, a small reunion recently brought together several young adults who had grown up with Malaika Kids. Two are now working in a nearby factory, one with a fumigation company, and others have found roles as a driver, a hairdresser, and a carpenter, each of them now fully independent.
But the Reception Home remains, above all, a refuge for abandoned and maltreated children. He had been sleeping in a makeshift shelter — a stark reminder of the vulnerability many children face.
