Malaika Kids is a Tanzanian initiative. It is registered with the relevant authorities and is operational in Dar es Salaam and Mkuranga in Tanzania. It is run by the CEO, Najma Manji, and a management team.

Malaika Kids UK role is to fund, support and enable the Tanzania operation, so that over time it becomes increasingly robust, self-reliant and self-sufficient.

Structure

Malaika Kids UK is a registered charity governed by a constitution that is approved by the Charity Commission for England and Wales. Our charity number is 1118149; you can view our details on the Charity Commission website.

Our constitution vests power to run the charity in the hands of its members. Members annually elect the trustees who ensure the charity has a clear strategy, and that its work and goals are in line with its vision; making sure that all decisions put the needs of the beneficiaries first. Members also review the annual accounts at an Annual General Meeting.

We have 50 members who elected twelve trustees. There is no upper limit in the constitution to the number of members or trustees. Trustees hold their position for three years and can be re-elected at an AGM.
