| Two six-year-old boys will transfer from our nursery class to Lifewaylight, the fee-paying English medium school just two minutes’ walk from our village door. They know their letters and numbers, can read simple sentences in both English and Swahili and are used to speaking English. We hope they will settle well at their new school.
Ten children took the Standard 7 exam in September in readiness for most to move on to secondary school. The results are out, and we are pleased to say that all passed this exam, most very well with a B, and two with a C. Nine of these children will go on to fee-paying English medium schools, while the tenth is keen to learn carpentry at Don Bosco College in Dar es Salaam. He came to us two years ago as a 13-year-old who had rarely attended school and spoke no English. Although he has improved enormously, he is not academic, and we are confident that Don Bosco is the right place for him. |
